Akhilesh Yadav: While it has now been confirmed that a cabinet expansion is scheduled to take place in UP tomorrow—Sunday, May 10—at 3:00 PM, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav has taken aim at the move, issuing a strong statement regarding the state government. Writing on Twitter, the SP Chief remarked, “Has a ‘chit’ arrived from Delhi? I hear that a cabinet expansion is underway in UP—or, to put it another way, is the Chief Minister’s authority undergoing a process of ‘erosion and attrition’?

‘Someone ought to ask the people who actually hold the cabinet portfolios. Our demand is that women be accorded reservation in the expansion of the UP cabinet.” Taking a further jibe, Akhilesh Yadav added, “Incidentally, another question is also simmering: Will the ‘Agal-bagal’ (side-by-side) duo ever see any betterment in their fortunes, or will they simply be left looking around aimlessly—or perhaps just making reels?” Following this statement by the SP chief, political activity in Uttar Pradesh has once again intensified.

A cabinet expansion may take place in UP tomorrow.

Notably, a cabinet expansion is scheduled to take place in UP tomorrow—Sunday, May 10. Reports also suggest that 8 to 9 new ministers will take the oath of office during this event. Some existing ministers may also be dropped from the cabinet. According to sources, Pooja Pal—a rebel MLA from the Samajwadi Party—may also be allotted a berth in the ministry. Additionally, the names of Krishna Paswan, Manoj Pandey, Bhupendra Chaudhary, and Romi Sahni are also being cited as potential candidates for ministerial posts. As per reports, the swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Raj Bhavan tomorrow afternoon.
